Course Curriculum for the Casino College of Mississippi
Mini Baccarat The schools objective in this course is to produce a confident, employable dealer, proficient in all aspects of Mini Baccarat in an entry- level position.
Materials, Resources and Instruction: The Casino College teaches and prepares students for the objective by means of the Casino College of Mississippi’s Mini Baccarat Manual and various handouts. Casino gaming tables and the proper gaming equipment will be used on a daily basis. Students will be instructed by the aid of lectures, and hands on, active role playing in a whole group environment coupled with one on one instruction. As a progressive approach will be taken to learn the game, the start of each class will begin with a review of “What We’ve Learned So Far”.
Evaluation: Evaluation is based upon a review of the activities completed by the students. The Instructor will use observation, question and answer sessions and written tests to determine students’ progression. Students will pass a written exam and mock audition before receiving their Certificate of Completion.
Course Outline:
Day 1- Orientation and Introduction to Mini Baccarat
Learning Level: Beginner
Course Duration: 60 hours
Students will be lectured on general procedure for dealing, general casino policy and rules of conduct, game protection and customer service. Reinforcement will be achieved through the daily implementation of these policies and procedures by means of hands on “dealing time” in a mock casino setting.
Day 2- The Layout
This class gives an overview of the Mini Baccarat table with an explanation of the bets that a player can make.
Students will learn the positions of the players and responsibilities of a dealer as well as the procedure for
shuffling and cutting the cards.
Day 3- Tools of the Trade
Students will be introduced to all of the gaming equipment necessary to run a Mini Baccarat game; Proper use
and care of the all equipment will be emphasized. Students will be introduced to the concept of commissions and
how to mark them up, player, banker and tie bets.
Day 4- Money, Cheques and Markers
Hands on application of procedure and technique will teach chip handling. Students will be trained in
proper checque cutting; drop cutting, and sizing in. Students will learn about the denominations of the checques,
their color and markings, making change, coloring up and making checque change. Markers will be introduced and the
student will be guided through the process of taking out markers and buying them back.
Day 5
Students will begin hands on learning all of the bets on the Mini Baccarat table. Refinement of technique and
procedure will be acquired by means of active role- play, whole group instruction and one on one instruction. Emphasis
will be placed on reading the hands and calling the game, and marking and accepting commission payments.
Days 19-24- Mock Casino
This as the time for our future dealers to get a feel for the real thing.
Days 25-30- Preparing to “Go Live”
Students will begin the process of preparing for their interview and audition through more intense action and mock
auditions.
